Obama was a community organizer. He brought people together to solve community problems. During the election, you could see this same type of community organizing focus on a much larger scale, encouraging us to get on this band wagon of hope and change.
Our country has lots of big problems affecting us right now; economic instability, jobs, the Wars in Iraq and Afghanistan, people losing their homes, health care, racism, H1N1 virus, homophobic prejudice are but a few of the critical current challenges screaming for attention and resolution.
After the election there was an atmosphere of hope in our country. Today we seem to be clouded in uncertainty as new ideas and changes are being discussed and recommended but there doesn't seem to be a lot of action for resolution. Many are starting to have doubts and see we have become embroiled once again in the status quo and the inability to solve problems.
But what I see is that we are going through the normal process of change.
After any new idea is introduced there is a period of discussion, debate, modification, and more discussion. The idea needs to be flushed to make it better. With continued discussion, leadership, and dedication, more and more voices will accept the proposed changes. The transition for change will get rooted and action will be initiated.
The fuel for these desired changes will be successful this time because it is fueled by the desires of making improvements in our lives and communities. If the fuel were solely for selfish or individual gains, it would probably fail.
Improvements and change are coming. It is almost guaranteed.
